Dragon Wagon

The Dragon Wagon is a green drink on the porch railing.

This is another drink made from Porch Tequila! My Porch Tequila is añejo tequila, and there’s some añejo from another bottle in here too.

Also, we continue the trend of using actual condiments from the kitchen. I have no shame whatsoever about this. It happens to be a cilantro vinaigrette from the best vegetarian cookbook I’ve ever seen; the description says the cilantro dressing is “so good it’ll make your eyes water”, and that’s exactly right. I can’t recommend this book highly enough. The chef and author is a firm believer in the magic of food, and how it forges and deepens our social connections and generally enriches our lives. The snapshots of her life, along with her serious passion for food, and general joie de vivre make this a book I return to all the time. Yes, her name really is Crescent Dragonwagon; I’ll let you discover her stories for yourself, but simply put, she’s a child of the 60s.

If you make the vinaigrette, you won’t regret it – for a salad dressing, a condiment for burgers etc, a marinade for cooking meat or vegetables…but hold back a couple of tablespoons for this drink!


  • 2 oz. Porch Tequila

  • 2 oz. Tequila Añejo

  • 4 or 5 Hot & Sweet Jalapeños

  • 2 oz. Crescent Dragonwagon’s Cilantro Vinaigrette
  • 1 Lemon

  • 1/2 c. Olive Oil

  • 1 bunch Cilantro

  • 1 tsp. Salt

  • 1 tsp. Pepper

  • 1 tsp. Hot Sauce

  • Rim
  • Salt

  • Cumin

  • Cayenne

  • Coriander


  • Cilantro Vinaigrette
  • Chop cilantro and blend in a blender with the lemon juice. Add other ingredients, drizzling in the olive oil in a couple of batches.
  • Muddle the jalapeños, then shake the muddle with the tequila, as well as Cilantro Vinaigrette.
  • Rim your glass with the dry ingredients; garnish with a long red pepper, and enjoy!
