Genovese Gin

The Genovese Gin cocktail is a gin martini, with lime juice and a basil garnish, and a surprise chipotle and salt rim.

This is another summery cocktail, with two of my favorite flavors: gin and basil.

We went crazy for rims around this time of the pandemic. We were so taken with the rim Elizabeth created for The Nameless Dog that for a while we were even putting rims on our gin cocktails! (A word to the purists: I know, I know).

It’s named the “Genovese” Gin in honor of Genoa, Italy, the home region of basil pesto. If you wouldn’t mind pronouncing it “Jen-oh-VAY-zay” (rather than “JENNA-vees”) that would really make Maura’s heart sing!

  • Gin, 4 oz.

  • Basil as garnish

  • About 3 limes

  • Rim
  • Salt and chipotle, ratio to taste

  • Shake the gin and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Rim a glass with the salt mixture, then pour your cocktail.
  • Cheers!
Enjoyed on June 3
