Spicy Margarita

The spicy margarita is served over ice with a rim.

Folks, I wanted to get cute and give this delicious a name like “TJIF” (the J stands for Jalapeño, of course) or something but let’s be honest – it’s just a spicy margarita!

Simple and delicious. I’ve been on a spicy drink kick very recently and nothing is simpler for that than tequila and jalapeño, plus a rim with cayenne.

It hit the spot.


  • 2 oz. tequila

  • nearly 2 oz. triple sec

  • Juice of one lime

  • about 6 jalapeño slices

  • 2 Tbsp jalapeño brine

  • Salt and cayenne for the rim


  • Rim your glass first (friendly reminder – I tend to forget!)
  • Muddle the jalapeño slices in a shaker.
  • Add the other liquids, plus ice, to the shaker and shake until satisfied.
  • Pour over ice and enjoy!
