The Smoky Pineapple

The Smoky Pineapple could certainly be a cocktail in its own right, though we looked at it as more of a test of our latest taste experiments. Elizabeth blended pineapple juice for the occasion, combined it with añejo tequila, and deployed another awesome rim. We’re not usually ones to take shots but we did it here as a test run.

The verdict: yes, it was good! But we suggested just a few tweaks to each other, and came back later in the evening with The Smokier Pineapple; that one became a full cocktail!


  • 1 oz. Añejo Tequila

  • 1/2 oz. fresh pineapple juice

  • Rim
  • Chipotle

  • Oaxacan peppers, ground

  • Salt


  • Blend up fresh pineapple; may need more time to pulverize the chunks.
  • Combine juice with tequila, in an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
  • Rim shot glass with dry ingredients.
  • Pour shots into glasses, and enjoy!
