The Spiky-Spiky

The Spiky-Spiky is a hot chocolate drink with Irish Cream liqueur, served in a mug.

Growing up in New England, I’m a hot chocolate lover from way back. Sometimes we didn’t go a day without it; it was an after-school snack, an après-sled, a way to warm up. Plain, or with whipped cream, or Fluff on top. Yum!

There are many ways to make it; everybody has their own way, and everybody is right! I use milk, and I go a little light on the cocoa for many people’s taste. Adjust this to your taste, think of snow, and enjoy!

I brought this drink to a holiday Zoom call, and it was perfect.


  • 8 oz. Milk

  • 3 Tbsp. Cocoa powder (sweetened)

  • 1.5 oz. Irish Cream


  • Warm Milk and Cocoa Powder on the stove, to desired temperature.
  • Before boil, remove from heat. Add Irish Cream.
  • Enjoy!
